Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor that lowers blood sugar by blocking glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, facilitating its elimination through urine.
Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases insulin release and decreases glucose production.
Indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control, especially as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
